The sapphire is mined in the Inverell district on the Northern Tablelands, in New South Wales, Australia. Our family has been mining in this district for more than 50 years, spanning three generations. Our mining is carried out in an eco-friendly manner, at all times maintaining the well being of our environment. All mined areas are restored and replanted with native vegetation to return them to their original state.
Heavy earthmoving machinery is used to carry out open cut mining.
At present my husband, two sons and five loyal colleagues, some of whom have been with us for around 20 years, make up the staff of eight at the mine site, with one lady employed for administration and stone grading in our office in town.
